Top Tips for Cruising with Kids

When it comes to convenient, stress-free trip options for families, it's hard to go past a cruise. Forget about preparing foods, long hours sitting in a car seat to reach the destination, hassle free!

We're blessed to discover Serenity Sunseeker Sunset Cruise at Shangri-La's Tanjung Aru Resort & Spa, the newest cruise package in town. Escape from the town for a 2-hour relaxing sunset cruise trip. But before setting sail, here are our top tips for cruising with kids.

1. Do your research and book ahead

Some cruise lines have limited spaces available for children based on the size of boat.

Ask if the boat is suitable for kids. It's best to book early, especially on a school holidays.

2. Arrive early

Don't start a trip off in a rush! Arrive 30 minutes earlier and bring the kids around the jetty, create excitement for them. We went to STAR Marina Jetty, I brought Kyle to Clown fish discovery center to see clown fish and educate him with different species, they even have a touch tank near the diving counter. Please make sure you wash your hand before put your hand in the tank. :)

3. Pack smart

Make sure you bring nappies, extra clothes, sunscreen, sanitizer and baby food. Serenity seeker provides canapes and free-flow soft drink and beer. However, bring extra food for your kids is necessary.

4. Avoid sea sickness

Pack some anti-motion sickness medication or wristband just in case.

5. Talk Safety

Remind your kids that important rules apply and ensure children and adults are paying close attention during safety briefings, which are usually given immediately after boarding.

Definitely not encourage for kids to do the same like Kyle, warned by the life guard on board to hold him tight :x

Thank you Harul, the friendly boat crew!
