Mums-To-Be, Pamper Yourself!

Being pregnant is life-changing. We all deserved some "me time", what more when you have another kids at home. Just to go a short road trip, swim or yoga is a luxurious rest I would say. Read more below, You will thank yourself later.

Pregnancy wasn't easy and smooth sail throughout the 40 weeks. I had back pain on and off, especially after 2nd trimester. I'm a person who loves to clean, thus all the back pain comes after done cleaning my house. I even went to physiotherapy to release my back pain once!

Today, I'm blessed to have the chance to try Pre-natal massage provided by Ulu-Ulu Spa. They using Urutan Malaysia Method to do the massage treatment. It is said to be invented by the indigenous people of Borneo (Murut) deep in the jungle from 4 century ago, when they migrated from the Chinese provinces of Jiangsu, Kyusu, and the Japanese island of Okinawa. Their massage techniques, also known as urut-urut, are so distinctive that you couldn’t tell whether it is Chinese, Japanese or Borneo style. All stroke and technique are synchronize so naturally to reach the maximum level of satisfaction of every inches of body.

When I arrived, the friendly staff welcomed me with welcome drinks, then carefully explained well before the treatment starts. It is very important for a mum to be to understand the progress and techniques that they will be using. We doesn't want to do anything that will hurt ourselves or the baby in womb. So ask any questions if needed!

I entered the massage room and be surrounded by dim lights, tranquil music, and an overall peaceful environment.

She told me that they will use based oil but not essential oil, the reason is essential oil might have the potential goes into our blood stream and harm. Expect gentle strokes, since deep tissue massages are not safe during pregnancy.

The massage therapist made me lay onto the side where supported by bolster. She massage my back, neck, shoulders, legs with gentle strokes. She spent 2/3 of the time in this position.

After that change position by laying on back and continue the massage on my chest, head and neck.

Tip: If you have particular problem areas, let your masseuse know to spend extra time on certain areas. Alternatively, you may also request that certain areas be skipped.

How do I determine if it is a good massage? The answer is SLEEP! If I can fall asleep soundly during the massage it means I really enjoyed single bit of it. And I did fall asleep during this Pre-natal massage, even with saliva, opps!

Honestly, I was a little bit worry before I went. I was worry if the massage will harm my baby? If the massage therapist knows the right technique? Just a mommy thinking too much :p But I know I'm in the good hand because they're professionally trained massage therapist. of course it all went well except she was late :(
